Daily water intake norm
The human body consist of approximately 60% water, which must be regularly renewed. Each organism requires an individual approach. Therefore, in order to calculate your daily water intake norm, it is important to consider the following factors:
- age
- activity level
- temperature
- body size
- sun exposure
- humidity
- health status
There are different opinions about the daily norm of water intake. Representatives of medicine usually recommend drinking about 2 liters of water per day, which is about eight glasses. This is a rule of 8 glasses, which is very easy to remember.
Every day, our body loses a certain amount of water due to saliva, sweat and other vital processes. In order for the body to function normally, it is necessary to replenish the reserve of water by drinking and eating products containing water. National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine have determined that the optimal daily dose of fluid is:
About 15.5 glasses (3.7 liters) – for men
About 11.5 glasses (2.7 liters) – for women
These recommendations cover liquids from water, other drinks, and food. About 20 percent of the daily fluid intake is usually from food and the rest comes from drinks.
In general, experts arrive at a single conclusion that we need as much fluid as the body requires, signaling this. A healthy body detects when it becomes dehydrated and causes thirst to stimulate drinking. Satisfying thirst produces a hormone that helps preserve water in the kidneys and urine concentration.
Listen to your body. If you rarely feel thirsty, then you have the optimal dose of water.
