Color of Pantone 2020

For 20 years in a row, every year Pantone experts name the color that all sectors of different industries are guided by. In the new decade we are coming with Classic Blue. Pantone has created five unique color palettes to help incorporate this shade into your daily life.

Classic blue symbolizes calm and confidence. This steady blue shade underlines our desire for a reliable and stable foundation on which we can build a bridge into a new era.

“We live in a time when trust and faith are needed. This stability and confidence is conveyed by PANTONE 19-4052 – a solid and reliable blue shade that we can always rely on”, described the color the director of the institute, Leatrice Eisman.

To complement the 2020 color presentation, Pantone made an unexpected turn: as part of its marketing campaign, the company joined forces with several brands to develop the smell, sound, taste and texture of Classic Blue. The resulting package included a sample of fabric that looked like suede inside, a candle with the smell of musk and sea salt, blue jelly with a taste of berries and a three-minute audio track called “Bright Nostalgia.”
